Most cities have a lot of history. Liverpool is known for its role in the slave trade, but developments in health are also an important part of local history. Liverpool was the first main city to offer nursing home care. Beds were taken out of bedrooms, placed downstairs in living rooms and they would receive visits from nurses that were employed in the private sector of medical care. Infectious diseases had grown to such as extent that there was not enough room in the hospitals wards up and down the country.

In our lives there are family and friends who at sometime have needed quality nursing care in a hospital. Our hospitals and care homes today have more efficient medical equipment then years ago. In the United Kingdom we are lucky to have good quality nursing care and hospital equipment for our family members if needed.
