Retail design/retail display

Perhaps it’s time to overhaul retail display?

It’s tough out there on the high street. Household incomes are being squeezed and consumers lack the confidence to open their wallets and purse strings. If retail was a tough game before, it’s even more challenging now. Not only do high street shops face a faltering economy, they also have to compete with cut price online retailers. So how can they succeed when the odds seem to be stacked against them?

Retail design is more important than ever before. Only the best retailers will ride out this current environment. It takes skill, vision and imagination to run a successful store and it’s this instinct that people have to turn to. People still enjoy shopping. It’s a popular leisure activity for many people. Online retailers will never be able to match this experience. Yes they’re cheap, but the way they operate doesn’t appeal to everyone, like the more leisurely shopper who likes to meet friends and browse before making a purchase. A purchase that can be made there and then without having to wait days for delivery.

The way a store is laid out and designed helps to fire the consumer’s imagination and keeps them coming back for more. There’s real skill in good retail display and it’s here where many many retailers struggle. If sales are sluggish then it might well be down to the retail design rather than any other factor.

It might be time to enlist the services of external consultants to give things a make over. A fresh perspective and pair of eyes to over haul the store and bring the shoppers back. With a fresh new approach to retail display the tills will start ringing again and hard pressed shop owners get a welcome boost. Barber design can help. They know retail and the they know display and design inside out. Perhaps it’s time for a new approach?
