Preparing bathrooms for the winter

There’s a chill in the air and the evenings are drawing in. The leaves on the trees are turning brown and all the signs are there- the long summer has finally come to an end. Autumn may be the seasons of mists and mellow fruitfulness, but it’s also the season for darkening mornings, the first frosts, and chilly feet on cold bathroom tiles.

As the mornings get darker and colder most of us find it harder to get out of bed with a spring in our step. The duvet is so warm and soft, and we just know how cold it’ll be when we finally surrender to the alarm and cast it off. A nice hot shower is usually the first thing we all look forward to on a frosty morning even before that first cup of coffee.

It’s hard not to appreciate hot showers but chilly bathrooms are something else entirely. Shaving or doing your hair and makeup in the cold may be an effective way to wake up but it’s a rude awakening. Far better to enjoy the morning bathroom routine and let the coffee do the waking up.

Getting a bathroom ready for winter is easy. Installing bathroom radiators is a great idea but even small details will make a difference. Heated towel rails provide a little touch of luxury and adding a nice thick pile bathmat anywhere your feet will rest- underneath the toilet and on the floor in front of the sink and mirror- will go along way towards making your suite cold weather friendly.

The best part is that heated towel rails, bath mats, and other accessories are cheap and easy to install. The mats can go straight down and whilst any fixed electrical appliances or bathroom radiators need to be wired up by a professional, it’s usually a quick and simple job.
