Public sector organisations moving into cloud computing

These days, organisations have to make effective use of technology in order to succeed and this is why many firms take advantage of IT support in Bradford, IT support in Leeds and so on. Increasingly, enterprises are moving to cloud-based provisions, meaning they receive their computing solutions as a service rather than a product.

And it is not only the private sector that is taking advantage of offerings of this kind. According to research commissioned by Virgin Media Business and conducted by LM Research, ten per cent of public sector staff are now using cloud software on a daily basis.

Also, of the directors and business owners polled, 61 per cent of those in the public sector revealed they would prefer to access all their software through the cloud.

Meanwhile, the government’s G-Cloud is expected to launch later this year. The G-Cloud initiative is designed to bring together a collective resource of IT services that can be used by public authorities.

Recently, the coalition government announced the suppliers shortlisted for its G-Cloud frameworks for cloud computing and Virgin Media Business is one of the firms working on the project. Chief operating officer at the firm Tony Grace said: “Businesses need to carefully choose the right supplier when commuting to the cloud to ensure disruption to services is kept to the absolute minimum.

“Look for a supplier that will work closely with you to develop a tailored solution that meets your specific needs, and can back it up with highly resilient, secure connectivity.”

To help them cope with any problems they encounter, it is often necessary for organisations to make use of IT support in Bradford, IT support in Leeds and so on. Such assistance can come in handy when technical issues arise and it can also be used to cover firm’s own IT departments for periods of illness and holidays. Also, it is often needed as specialised support for complex systems.
