Meanwhile, another area recommended by Ms Foster is Langstrothdale. By following the Dales Way from Yockenthwaite towards Beckermonds, people can take in a range of interesting sights, including a lime kiln and a stone circle.
Individuals who want a longer trip might be interested in The James Herriot Way, she went on to suggest. This is 52 miles long and can be walked in four to five days. She remarked: “This circular trek combines strolling in the valley bottoms with some energetic work on the skylines. It takes in parts of Swaledale and Wensleydale including Aysgarth, Grinton, Keld, Askrigg and Hawes.”
