Despite the fact that rumours circulated earlier this year that the duo were set to part ways, they have come out and denied the speculation. Speaking to People magazine, Jada said: “Fifteen years! It’s amazing, isn’t it? We celebrate throughout the year. But usually on our wedding anniversary, we give ourselves a high-five and go, ‘We survived another year, homie! Yeah!”
She went on to describe her marriage to Smith as “a beautiful journey with lots of chapters”. The pair tied the knot in 1997 and have two children, Jaden and Willow, together.
Jada added: “I was just doing the Today show, and there was a couple there who was celebrating 59 years of marriage, and I thought to myself, ‘15 years ain’t nothing, you know’. It’s just the beginning. That’s the way I look at it.”
The celebrity also pointed to the importance of friendship in marriage. She said that as well as love, “understanding, acceptance and compassion” are all vital.
She did not reveal how she and her Men in Black star hubby will mark their anniversary this year, but they may well invest in personalised cards.
