Increasing Club Loyalty and Revenue

It may seem as though football clubs have a captive audience. After all, the diehard fans will be back week in and week out spending money on watching games and ensuring that they give the players the support that they need. However, whilst this is indeed extremely important, clubs often forget just how important retail sales are for the increased prosperity of the club.

Especially now that the Financial Fair Play Regulations have been imposed, optimising revenue is more important than ever before, and one of the easiest ways to do this is through retail sales. It is easy to assume that fans will just simply go out and buy the items you sell, but in reality, as with any other retail business, customers are likely to need to have a little bit of convincing.

Retail design of club stores is extremely important. From the way the store is laid out and how you use any point of sale display right through to the colour and branding of the store, there will be many ways to increase revenue both on match days and even during the rest of the week. Even the promotional posters you use can be extremely important.

For example, should you stock interesting and unique products in your store, you may find that people are more inclined to buy such items once they have been on a night out, the very time you are likely to be closed. With interesting promotional prints in your windows (on top of the right point of sale display at the tills) and QR codes readily visible to take customers straight to your website to purchase the goods, you could see a huge amount of increased profit during the usually quieter times of the week.

Even simply creating easy access to your store could help boost revenue. Simply allowing as many people as possible into the shop at any time with a very conscious retail design could mean that far more will be able to make purchases instead of heading off empty handed due to excessive queues and an inability to even see what’s on display.
