Winter Holiday Checklist

Jetting off for a little winter sun? Perhaps looking forward to a well-deserved alpine ski break? Here are a few holiday checklist tips and tricks to get even the most disorganised folks into the car and off to Leeds airport car parking facility without a hitch!

Documents
Around a month before travelling all documents should really be organised. Look into visas, European Health Insurance Cards (EHIC), vaccination necessities and final travel details (e.g. from destination airport to hotel etc)

Information
Perhaps running the car down to Leeds airport parking before jetting off to a much-loved destination is second nature, however ensuring understanding of a new destination is sensible. Invest in a guide book (or borrow from a local library and photocopy pages of interest) Visit the British Embassy website of a destination country and register as a visitor if possible.
Check and double check the official baggage allowances for every stage of the journey in order to avoid the awful excess charges.

Money and Paperwork
Leaving currency conversion and travel insurance until the day of travel does of course provide a task to fill the time before flying, but it also invites a lot of potential issues and complications. For short breaks this is rarely an issue, but good organisation is the key to successful holidays!
Keeping tabs on paperwork is much easier in the digital age. Copy travel documents (including visas, driving licences, insurance policies, hotel reservations etc) and email them to an easily accessible secure account.

Security
Home security is never more of a pressing issue than when on holiday. Ask a friend or neighbour to check the house daily to remove post from sight. Install light timers. Double check doors and windows. Cancel signs of absence (e.g. newspaper delivery, milk) Utilise airport parking to keep the car safe, secure and on hand for a swift return journey home.
